If you’re trying to come up with ideas and plans for a home makeover, worry no more! I’ve got you covered with a bunch of my favourite tips and tricks. These tips should help you to makeover your home and give it a professional, sometimes quirky look. Enjoy!

If your home has no feature walls, it’s basically naked. Feature walls draw the eye to the main area of the room. There are a number of ways you can create a feature wall, but it all depends on what you envision and how much work you’re willing to put in. Here are some ideas:

  • Use pictures of different shapes and sizes in the same kind of theme and hang them on your feature wall.

  • Don’t splash out on expensive art, use pictures out of books and frame them to decorate.

  • Simply use a patterned wallpaper you like to create a unique look on one wall.

  • Hang pictures over your bed to create a ‘headboard’ effect.

You can’t be scared to make a statement with your feature wall!

Instead of matching your colours like most do, why not contrast them? Bright colours are perfect for summer, such as teal and coral. You can also mix different shades of the same colour, like deep purple and lavender. This will give your home a funky, bright look.

Matching cushions and furniture is boring. Have you ever considered mixing your chairs, sofas, and cushions to create a brand new feel? Your furniture will look thrown together, but it can still work. I also like mixing a traditional piece into a modern environment, and vice versa. It helps to add interest.

Why not think of a theme you’d like to stick to? For instance, shabby chic is a popular theme that many like to decorate their homes, or just one room in the home by. You may prefer a more modern appearance.

If you don’t feel confident giving your home a makeover, there are lots of helpful apps out there. Some will keep your measurements safe so you can choose new furniture, while others will help you to design a room for inspiration.

The type of flooring you choose can make all the difference to the look of your home. I prefer the look of engineered wood flooring to carpet, but this is personal preference. You could have a mix of floors in the home depending on your tastes.

Metallic finishes in the form of hardware and accessories add a luxury finish to your home, and you can mix them as much as you see fit.

I love using these tips when I’m revamping my home. I hope you love them as much as I do!
